For the second time, SMDOT/Contemporary Art is delighted to welcome a new project by Yara Piras, an Italian artist born in Turin who lives and works in Milan.
Known for their compelling fusion of visual art, music, and multi- dimensional storytelling, the Swedish artistic duo presents three signature psychologically-charged clay-animation films alongside sculptural works.
The exhibition takes inspiration from a verse by the Tang Dynasty poet Zhang Jiuling: “Tall bamboos steeped in the serenity of morning light, the splendid pond cradles sky’s mirrored blue.”
The exhibition begins with a threat. Upon entering W.I.H.S.H. Projects, a meticulously renovated basement in Humboldt Park, two drawings show a punctured bucket leaking into striated waves.
